Inn in Valle Maira

Hosts with a passion for hospitality

Hotel “La Marmu” spread over several sites in the Maira Valley

The journey we set out upon together many years ago has led us today to this inn in the beautiful Maira Valley. In the charming village of Marmora you can find us at the Osteria della Croce Bianca, with the historic “La Marmu” hotel attached.

In our Hotel in Valle Maira, we are proud to share our cuisine, rich in authentic Piedmontese and Occitan valley traditions. Short chain, locally sourced and organic products, vegetables grown in the village and wild products such as mushrooms and berries when in season allow us to bring genuine and flavoursome food to your table, prepared with all our experience. Bread, pasta and desserts are naturally made with our own hands.

We have several rooms, beautifully furnished in Alpine style, as well as the ability to host groups in mountain refuge style dormitories, where joy and conviviality abound.

An attractive slice of well-being can be enjoyed at the edge of the woods, where a wood-burning Finnish sauna and a scenic garden will host you at the end of an intense day in the mountains, both in summer and in winter.

The story of two hosts with a common passion

Cuisine and hospitality must come from the heart

Marmora is a small town overlooking a lateral gorge of the Maira Valley. Rich in greenery and surrounded by mountains that separate it from France and the nearby Stura and Varaita Valleys, onto which several passes open up. Well exposed to the sun, the Vallone di Marmora and Canosio is an unspoilt natural haven, which is ideal for sports and sustainable tourism, as evidenced by the presence of numerous species of wild animals such as deer and chamois, ptarmigans, foxes, black grouse, and stoats. With patience you may be able to observe the flight of agolden eagle, hear the whistle of marmots and even find traces of the wolf who has returned to this corner of paradise. As shy as this animal may be, the surrounding environment is perfect for its nature.

Just imagine all the natural attractions you can immerse yourself in via trekking, mountain biking, seal fur skins under skis or snowshoes.

The dishes we serve are the result of careful research into the ancient flavours of our territory. Both hotel guests and those not staying with us are very welcome. Barbara has devoted herself with great creativity to the kitchen, ensuring raw ingredients are rigorously local. Milk, butter, eggs, vegetables and fruit, honey, cereals and cheeses come from the villages. Mario’s passion is for bread and grissini, which he bakes in the oven on-site, and fresh pasta, traditionally tajarin and tagliatelle, that Barbara then transforms into tasty and fragrant dishes in the Osteria della Croce Bianca.

Of course the dishes are accompanied by a selection of wines from the Piedmont region and beyond. Indeed, you will find a very respectable wine cellar with which to complement your gastronomic experience.

Our inn is a welcoming point from which to set out.

Chase the adventure in total freedom – we will be waiting on your return.

Our inn is ideally located for planning trips and excursions. From our hamlet, right in front of the hotel, lead both roads to the hills of the Maira Valley and paths directly into nature.

Guests are welcome to leave their equipment in our storage facility, comprising a heated Ski Room kitted out for ski maintenance and drying boots. There is also a room which is locked at night where you can securely store mountain bikes.

Mario, an expert ski instructor, offers all his knowledge to help advise you and organise your trips.

There is also a small but well-equipped gym to keep up fitness levels when the weather forces you to take shelter.

Of course, the Finnish sauna is always available upon reservation, and a massage can be booked for some well-deserved pampering.
